Day 1: Friday, 6 April, 2018
Ottawa ==> Shanghai, China
Depart for Shanghai via Canadian gateway on overnight flight. Meals will be served on board trans-pacific flight to China. (D, B)

Day 2: Saturday, 7 April, 2018
Shanghai
Arrive Shanghai, transfer to your hotel; the rest of the day is free at leisure. For those who are still energetic, an optional Huangpu River Night Cruise is available. (D)

Day 3: Sunday, 8 April, 2018
Shanghai-Yichang-Yangtze River Cruise
After breakfast, drive to Songjiang district, a south-western suburb of Shanghai; visit National Shrine and Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Sheshan (formerly, Our Lady of Zose) and celebrate Mass there. In 2008, Pope Benedict XVI composed a prayer to our Lady of Sheshan and the following year designated May 24, the Feast of May Help of Christian, as a day of prayer for Chinese Catholics calling them to renew their fidelity to the Pope as the sole successor of Saint Peter.
City tour of Shanghai which will include the Bund and Yu Garden. Arrive Yichang, dinner at local restaurant. Embark 5-star M.V. Century Sun cruise ship or similar. (B, L, D)

Day 4: Monday, 9 April, 2018
Yangtze River Cruise
Take a shore excursion to “Three Gorges Dam”, the largest hydroelectric dam in the world. Then sail through the Three Gorge Dam Shiplocks, the first gorge-Xiling Gorge, the longest and historically the most dangerous one. At night, enjoy a Captain’s Welcome Party. (B, L, D)

Day 5: Tuesday, 10 April, 2018
Yangtze River Cruise
Tour the Shennong Stream to see cascading waterfalls, steep cliffs, karst caves, and three-colored springs. Later’ sail through the Wu Gorge and the shortest but most dramatic Qutang Gorge-with ancient relics scattered along its steep cliffs. Tonight, enjoy the Crew Cabaret Show. (B, L, D)

Day 6: Wednesday, 11 April, 2018
Yangtze River Cruise
In the morning, after arriving in Fengdu, a shore excursion to the “Ghost City”-known for its statures of ghosts and devils on Mingshan Hill. A special Mass will be offered for this cruise today, and you are encouraged to attend. Tonight’s entertainment includes the Captain’s Farewell Banquet. (B, L, D)

Day 7: Thursday, 12 April, 2018
Chongqing
Disembark at Chongqing port. Visit the Chongqing Zoo to see the pandas. Drive to Ciqikou old town for a visit. Ciqikou, situated on the bank of Jia Ling River, is a place to see how Chongqing people used to eat and shop.

Day 8: Friday, 13 April, 2018
Chongqing ==> Beijing
Fly to Beijing. On arrival, meet your local guide. Drive to Zhalan Cemetery and pay tribute to the Tomb of Fr. Matteo Ricci. Fr. Ricci arrived Macau in August 1582 and entered the Mainland China in 1583. Fr. Ricci established the Cathedral of the Immaculate of Conception in Beijing, the oldest church in the city. Fr. Ricci died in May 11, 1610. By the code of the Ming Dynasty, foreigners who died in China were not allowed to be buried in China. In light of his contributions to China, Fr. Ricci was given special permission by The Wanli Emperor to be buried in Beijing. Free at leisure until dinner. This evening, enjoy a Peking Duck Dinner (B, L, SD).

Day 9: Saturday, 14 April, 2018
Beijing
After breakfast, visit Tian’anmen Square and Forbidden City; lunch at local restaurant. Then visit the Temple of Heaven. Rest of day free at leisure. (B, L, D)

Day 10: Sunday, 15 April, 2018
Beijing
Morning Mass at the South Church (formerly, Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Beijing) which was established by Fr. Matteo Ricci in the Ming Dynasty. Drive to outskirt area and visit the Great Wall (Juyongquan). Stop by Beijing Jade Carving Factory followed by lunch at its Friendship Restaurant. Enjoy a relaxing Beijing Hutong Tour with rickshaw. Day 11: Monday, 16 April, 2018
Beijing <==> Tianjin
Take High Speed train for a day excursion to Tianjin. Stoll along Five Great Avenues. Take a cruise on Tianjin Haihe River. We will see both the remains of old Tianjin and the skylines of new Tianjin. Enjoy an authentic Tianjin cuisine before returning to Beijing.

Day 12: Tuesday, 17 April, 2018
Beijing ==> Xian
Free at leisure until departure for Xian. Fly to Xian, the ancient capital city for 11 dynasties in Chinese history. Transfer to hotel. Free at leisure until dinner. Enjoy a Tang Dynasty Dancing Show & Dumpling Banquet. (B, L, SD)

Day 13: Wednesday, 18 April, 2018
Xian
This morning visit Shaanxi History Museum, which has been regarded as “the pearl of ancient dynasties and house of Chinese treasures”. Then take an outside view of the Ancient City Wall. Then proceed to the Terra-cotta Warriors& Horses, which are the most significant archeological excavations of the 20th century, and pay a visit to the Terra-cotta Figure Workshop en route. Then tour the Qinshihuang Mausoleum. Visit Nestorian Monument [erected in 781 marking 150 years of Christianity’s first entry during the Tang Dynasty. (B, L, D)

Day 14: Thursday, 19 April, 2018
Xian ==> Guilin
Visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. As the symbol of the old-line Xian, Big Wild Goose Pagoda (Dayan Pagoda) is a well-preserved ancient building and a holy place for Buddhists. Take afternoon flight to Guilin. Free time at leisure. (B, L, D)

Guilin <==> Longsheng
Today’s excursion will bring us to Longji Rice Terrace. Experience the local lifestyle of Yao and Miao ethnic minorities. Return to Guilin. (B,L,D)

Day 16: Saturday, 21 April, 2018
Guilin <==> Yangshuo
Take a boat cruise down the picturesque Li River to Yangshuo. Enjoy the beautiful scenery along the river. Free time to explore Yangshuo and its famous West Street on your own until time to return to Guilin.

Day 17: Sunday, 22 April, 2018
Guilin
Morning Mass at local church. Then city tour and highlights of Guilin include the Elephant Trunk Hill, Fubo Hill and the Reed Flute Cave.

Day 18: Monday, 23 April, 2018
Guilin ==> Shenzhen ==> Hong Kong
After breakfast, transfer to train station and take High Speed train to Shenzhen. On arrival to Shenzhen station, transfer to Shenzhen-Hong Kong Border Control to leave Shenzhen for Hong Kong. Meet your Hong Kong guide at Hong Kong border, and start your half day tour of Hong Kong. At the end of the tour, you will be dropped off at the hotel. Free at leisure and dinner at your own expense. Day 19: Tuesday, 24 April, 2018
Hong Kong
Free day at leisure to explore Hong Kong on your own. An optional day trip to Macau is available.
Macau, a former Portuguese colony, is only 50 minutes away from Hong Kong by catamaran. Though Macau is famous for casinos, it is in fact the gateway Catholicism was brought into China in the Ming Dynasty. In Macau, you can visit the ruins of St. Paul’s church and many ancient churches like St. Dominic’s and St. Lazarus’ churches which were built in the 15th century. (B)

Hong Kong ==> Canada
Free at leisure until check out at noon. Depart for Canada. (B)

GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

RESERVATIONS & DEPOSIT
A deposit of CA$500.00 per person is required within 7 days after a tour invoice is issued. Reservations are considered confirmed after a deposit has been received.

Payment can be made by check payable to “JBC Travel” or by VISA or Mastercard. Payment by credit will be subject to 3% convenience fee.

FINAL PAYMENT
Final and full payment is required 90 days prior to departure.

CANCELLATIONS (LAND PORTION)
All cancellations must be made in writing to JBC Travel. The date of receipt of the cancellation notice will determine what penalties, if any, will be assessed, in accordance with the following schedule:
After the booking was confirmed: CA$200 per person
60~31 days prior to departure: 50% of the tour price per person
30 days prior to departure: 100% forfeiture of tour price per person.

REFUNDS
There will be no refunds once the tour has commenced. There will also be no refunds for unused tour arrangements, domestic and international flights, ground transportation and hotel accommodations.

TOUR PRICE
Tour price includes air and surface transportation as arranged. Tour price is quoted in Canadian dollars. All prices are subject to change without notice.

PASSPORT AND CHINA VISA
A valid passport is required which must be valid for at least six months after the scheduled return of the tour. Visa is required for Canadian nationals visiting China for tourism. Nationals from other countries must check with the Chinese Embassy or Consulate regarding visa requirements. JBC Travel cannot accept responsibility for alternate or additional land or air arrangements incurred by tour participants with improper documentation.

The fee for a 10-year multiple visa to China for Canadian citizen is $145.20.

INSURANCE
JBC Travel recommends that all tour participants ensure that they have sufficient trip cancellation, hospital/medical, and baggage insurance coverage prior to departure. Contact us for additional information.

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS
Currently none of the areas included in the itineraries require certificates of vaccination. However, this is subject to change at any time.

BAGGAGE
JBC Travel can assume no responsibility for lost or damaged baggage. Baggage allowance currently in effect on trans-Pacific flights is two (2) piece, and on domestic flights within China is one (1) piece of checked baggage with dimensions not exceeding 62 inches (158 cm.), and weight less than 50 lbs (22.6 kg). Excess baggage charges are the responsibility of the traveler.

AIR TRANSPORTATION
Air transportation is based on round-trip economy group fares via Air Canada. All fares quoted are subject to change without notice by the airline.

MEALS
Daily breakfast and dinner will be provided in the hotels.

ACCOMMODATION
4/5-star hotel accommodations are used where available and are based on double occupancy in a room with private bathroom. Single supplement charges are indicated in the brochure programs.

TRANSFER AND SIGHTSEEING
All transfers and sightseeing are by air-conditioned motor coach, car or other conveyance.

RESPONSIBILITY
JBC Travel Canada Ltd., acts only as agent and/or intermediary for the independent suppliers. The suppliers who provide transportation, conveyance, or accommodations are independent contractors and are not agents or employees of JBC Travel. JBC Travel assumes no liability for any injury, damage, loss, accident, delay or irregularity. JBC Travel reserves the right to withdraw any tour published in this program and to substitute hotels if necessary. JBC Travel further reserves the right to decline, accept or to retain any person as a member of any tour at any time should it be determined that the participant presents a significant risk to the health or safety of himself/herself or others despite repeated warnings from the local land operator.
